Young Kids attacking!

For many years the people looked at Racing as a discipline for the established racers. While in Freestye young guns entered the scene well known big names dominated the racing scene. They had access to the best equipment and the budget to train and compete in all the events. Names like Wojtek Brzozowski, Steve Allen, Kevin Pritchard and Micah Buzianis have dominated the fields.

But now we can feel a wind of change. The success of the Formula Windsurfing concept has opened the door for new racers as the sport is much more accessible for young competitors now with limited costs. The Windsurfing Euro-Cup serves as an attractive platform and has developed into the most important racing series in the world. Media and the windsurfing manufacturers welcome the success of the Euro-Cup and support the series making it even more interesting for young kids to race. Now the second wave of competitors is storming the racing arena.

A lot of young racers enter the various national racing series since years. Now the wave has reached the top level in the Euro-Cup. The youngsters have learned their lesson very well and now the pupils want to give their teachers a lesson! In the beginning they were only able to surprise the other racers and the public with glorious results in single races but now they are able to attack with full force. They are competing with the big names on a equal level and are able to defeat them.

Young boys like Michal Polanowski (POL-16, Starboard, Neil Pryde) from Poland, Roy van Koolwijk (NED-97, Fanatic, Neil Pryde) from the Netherlands, Alberto Menegatti (ITA- 456, Starboard, YES Sails) from Italy and Devon Boulon (ISV-1, F2, Windwing) from the Virgin Islands are scoring continuously top ten results and install themselves as the new top stars of racing. It seems obvious that the fight for the top will get much harder but at the same time more interesting in the future. There are about 20 racers at the moment who are able to win races and we are not save from more surprises!

Be prepared for the rise of the Youth!
